This Election Day the citizens of Rhode Island voted Yes on 3 overwhelmingly and passed the Green Economy and Clean Water Bond. This bond is an investment in many of Rhode Island’s strengths and touches every community in the state. In downtown Providence, dredging of the river that flows through the center of the capital city will support economic development, enhance tourism opportunities and improve water depths.

"The Providence Foundation is grateful that the citizens of Rhode Island voted Yes on 3 and passed the Green Economy and Clean Water Bond. This bond includes $7 million for dredging sections of the Providence, Woonasquatucket and Moshassuck rivers, a project crucial to the natural and economic health of our capital city," said Executive Director Cliff Wood.

Thank you to the following Foundation members who made contributions that were crucial in getting the work done to get this bond passed.

  • Cornish Associates

  • IGT
