From the Providence Journal: 5 takeaways from State of State Speech

“Music to long-suffering Rhode Island mass-transit advocates’ ears [and The Providence Foundation!] in Raimondo’s speech: “Now, just imagine what Rhode Island would look like if we improved our trains, buses, and public transit the same way we’ve tackled fixing our roads and bridges. Imagine a day when high-speed commuter rail connects Providence to Boston, when electric buses powered by solar panels zip through dedicated bus lanes.”

Patrick Anderson lays out the biggest points from Govenor Raimondo’s State of State Speech in The Providence Journal. This one in particular is reverberating with our efforts to improve public transit.

While outside of our purview, we’re also pretty excited by the release of this Pawtucket/Central Falls Commuter Rail Station and Bus Hub released by RIDOT. What do you think of the design?

The Pawtucket/Central Falls Commuter Rail Station and Bus Hub is the culmination of more than a decade of work from a collaboration of state and local officials, transit, bus transit, and railroad stakeholders. It will fulfill a need for commuters traveling to Boston in the north and to Providence, T.F.
